'I am no bird' Jane Eyre necklace | Charlotte Brontë

Regular price £46.00

4 reviews

'I am no bird; and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will, which I now exert to leave you.' Jane Eyre asserts herself when she says these words to Mr. Rochester in Charlotte Brontë's masterpiece.

The imagery of birds is used throughout the novel to express both Jane's captivity and her longed for freedom. This delicate statement necklace is etched with the text above and held by two bronze birds.

£2 goes to the Brontë Society to support their learning programme.

Details & dimensions

This necklace is etched on 3mm. mirror acrylic and comes on an antique gold chain suspended by two sky blue birds and finished with a sky blue star. It measures 8cm. (just over 3in.) across.

Care instructions

Acrylic can break if dropped and will snap under pressure. Please store your jewellery in its box and keep away from lotions and sprays as moisture can discolour metal parts. Mirror acrylic can scratch easily, clean it like you would sunglasses, with a soft cloth and water or lens spray.

Shipping & returns

I am only shipping within the UK at the moment. Postage is £2.95 for Royal Mail Tracked-48 and free on orders over £40.

Please note Tracked-48 is just the speed of shipping and does not mean that all orders are sent out to arrive within 48 hours.

I aim to send out orders within 2-3 days, but at busy time this may take a little longer, as some designs are made to order.

If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase you can return it to Wear and Resist in its original box and packaging within 14 days of purchase for a refund excluding £2.95 postage. If your order qualified for free postage because of the item you are returning, £2.95 postage costs will be deducted from your refund. For reasons of hygiene I am afraid I cannot refund earrings.

I look at all returns closely myself and won't refund any jewellery that has been worn.

Perfection :)

I ordered this necklace to wear at my band’s first gig showcasing our original songs. Sarah was super helpful, ensuring that the necklace arrived on time.

The necklace itself is so beautiful: great design, inspiring wording and makes a statement.

Thank you so much. I’ll definitely be placing orders with you again.

About Sarah Day

Wear and Resist was born in early 2017 out of an urge to channel my frustration and growing rage at the political climate into a creative pursuit that would raise money for women's charities. I believe jewellery is about more than just looking pretty. What we wear can empower us and open up conversations. Statement jewellery that actually has something to say!

Wear and Resist is running on solar power as we are in the process of making our home and workshop self-sustaining.

Designed and made with love

Everything is made and sent from my Oxfordshire studio. We are an extremely small team – I'm the only full-time member 😄 – so you are truly supporting a small business when you shop here. We aim to get all orders out within 2-3 days but some may need to be made to order and might take a little longer. Sarah xx
