‘No coward soul is mine’ pendant necklace | Emily Brontë

£36.00

3 reviews

This pendant necklace is etched in pale blue glow-in-the-dark pigment with the first words of Emily Brontë poem. It is finished with a bronze vintage star. (If you would prefer sky blue please let me know if gift message space.)

£2 goes to the Brontë Society to support their learning programme.

Emily died at 30, and like all good writing about death, this poem is really about life, and I love the intimate and powerful connection she has not with religion or 'creeds' but with her own, infinite, wondrous 'ever-present Deity'. It is said that Emily Dickinson asked for it to read at her funeral.

No Coward Soul Is Mine

No coward soul is mine,
No trembler in the world's storm-troubled sphere:
I see Heaven's glories shine,
And faith shines equal, arming me from Fear.

O God within my breast,
Almighty, ever-present Deity!
Life - that in me hast rest,
As I - Undying Life- have power in Thee!

Vain are the thousand creeds
That move men's hearts, unutterably vain;
Worthless as withered weeds
Or idlest froth amid the boundless main,

To waken doubt in one
Holding so fast by Thine infinity;
So surely anchored on
The steadfast rock of immortality.

With wide-embracing love
Thy Spirit animates eternal years,
Pervades and broods above,
Changes, sustains, dissolves, creates and rears

Though Earth and moon were gone,
And suns and universes ceased to be,
And Thou wert left alone,
Every Existence would exist in Thee.

There is not room for Death,
Nor atom that his might could render void:
Thou - Thou art Being and Breath,
And what Thou art may never be destroyed.

Care instructions

Acrylic can break if dropped and will snap under pressure. Please store your jewellery in its box and keep away from lotions and sprays as moisture can discolour metal parts.

Shipping & Returns

I aim to send out orders within 2-3 days, but at busy time this may take a little longer, as some designs are made to order. All orders are now sent Royal Mail Tracked-48. You will get an email to let you know when your order is on its way. If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase you can return it to Wear and Resist in its original box and packaging within a month of purchase for a refund excluding postage. For reasons of hygiene I am afraid I cannot refund earrings.

Present to myself....No Coward Soul is Mine

Love my necklace ....I bought it for myself for the dog rescue work I've done and I will remember the words when I'm feeling like I can't do something and then think...yes I can. It was worn on visiting Camp Beagle ( recently) outside the laboratory dog breeding facility MBR Acres Cambridgeshire. Kim xxx
