Chains & care

Each necklace comes with a choice of chain: silver plated, gold plated, antique gold or black. For the larger words you can choose between thin or medium weight chains. Chains are nickel free and are all adjustable to three different setting. All necklaces come in a gift box so they make perfect presents.
I use very good quality gold-plated chains. But unfortunately any gold jewellery of less than 24 carats can tarnish. It is the copper and silver that are mixed with the gold that reacts. Our body chemistry also differs, which is why some people’s jewellery (I am one of these people) may be more inclined to tarnish or tarnish more quickly than others.
In summer months chains are more likely to tarnish when worn against the skin as tarnishing can happen when chains are exposed to moisture, skin lotions, sunscreen, perfume and hairspray
To prevent tarnishing you can:
  1. Store your necklace in its box
  2. Clean it with a soft cloth after wear
  3. Do not apply perfume, deodorants, sprays etc. to skin that will come into contact with the jewellery.
  4. Wear your necklace over clothing rather than against the skin if possible
It is possible to clean your chain if it does tarnish:  Add a few drops of mild, non-phosphate dishwashing liquid to warm water and leave your necklace for at least five minutes. Then wipe it with a soft cloth – I find a microfibre cloth works well. Allow it to air dry completely before wearing it again.
But if nothing works and your chain is too tarnished, please return it to me in its box and I will replace it for you. I want you to be happy with your necklace and to get a lot of wear out of it!
