To celebrate the publication of Helen Lewis's Difficult Women: A History of Feminism in 11 Fights, introducing the DIFFICULT necklace for all you empowered, awkward, complicated women who refuse to accept injustices or smooth things over, make nice and go with the flow!

You may have already seen the Difficult Woman necklace I designed specially for the release of Helen's book last year. You can take a look and read her thoughts here.

I have been wanting to do a series of particularly feminine insults as necklaces for ages, and this was the perfect opportunity. There will be more coming!

The word difficult measures 9.5 by 3.5 cm. (33/4 by 11/4 in.). It is cut from 3mm mirror acrylic and glued to a backing layer of 3mm. matte black acrylic. The  necklace comes on a black chain adjustable to three lengths.

£2 goes to Women for Refugee Women – a UK-based charity that supports women who are seeking asylum and challenges the injustices they experience. They run a range of activities for refugee women, including English classes, drama and writing workshops, with the aim of empowering them to tell their own stories.

Shipping & Returns

I aim to send out all orders as soon as possible, usually within a couple days of receiving them. Special orders and bespoke designs can take up to a week longer, and with such a big range of products, some designs are made to order so can't be sent next day. Please allow two days from ordering to posting even if you choose Tracked 24 or Special Delivery.

If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase you can return it to Wear and Resist in its original box and packaging within a month of purchase for a full refund or exchange. For reasons of hygiene I am afraid I cannot refund earrings.

Care Instructions

Acrylic can break if dropped and will snap under pressure. Please store your jewellery in its box and keep away from lotions and sprays as moisture can discolour metal chains.

So very me

So very me! I’m not difficult per se, but perceived that way. I love this necklace and the colour. I also love that this company support womens charities
Next will be a RBG necklace. I’d love the address to senate, but it’s OOS. Please put it back in stock?

Sarah Day the founder of Wear and Resist in her Oxfordshire studio.

About us

Wear and Resist was launched by me, Sarah Day, in early 2017 as a way to channel my frustration at the political climate into a creative pursuit that would raise money for women's charities. It has grown word by word, but it's still just me, with a little help from Eliza, my daughter, model and muse. We currently support five main charities.
