1 review

A contemporary take on the original Suffragette jewellery, which often featured real diamonds, peridot and amethysts.

The centrepiece of this necklace is etched with Sylvia Pankhurst's Angel of freedom and the words 'take courage' from Christabel Pankhurst's famous statement, 'Remember the dignity of your womanhood. Do not appeal, do not beg, do not grovel. Take courage, join hands, stand besides us, fight with us.'

It comes on an antique gold chain adustable to three lengths.

20% of the purchase price will go to Centenary Action, whose mission is to address the barriers facing women in politics and campaign for a gender equal parliament by 2028.

Details & dimensions

The 'jewels' are cut and etched from 3mm. mirror acrylic. It comes on an antique gold chain adjustable to three lengths. The shortest length is 46.5cm. (approx. 181/2in.) and the longest is 56cm. (22in.).

Care instructions

Acrylic can break if dropped and will snap under pressure. Please store your jewellery in its box and keep away from lotions and sprays as moisture can discolour metal parts. Mirror acrylic can scratch easily, clean it like you would sunglasses, with a soft cloth and water or lens spray.

Shipping & returns

I am only shipping within the UK at the moment. Postage is £2.95 for Royal Mail Tracked-48 and free on orders over £40.

Please note Tracked-48 is just the speed of shipping and does not mean that all orders are sent out to arrive within 48 hours.

I aim to send out orders within 2-3 days, but at busy time this may take a little longer, as some designs are made to order.

If for any reason you are unhappy with your purchase you can return it to Wear and Resist in its original box and packaging within 14 days of purchase for a refund excluding £2.95 postage. If your order qualified for free postage because of the item you are returning, £2.95 postage costs will be deducted from your refund. For reasons of hygiene I am afraid I cannot refund earrings.

I look at all returns closely myself and won't refund any jewellery that has been worn.

Perfect 50th present- 5 stars

We clubbed together to buy this lovely necklace for another mum and she totally loved it. She loved the originality of the necklace and was really touched when she found out about the charity donation too. Another high quality piece, delivered really quickly and with a lovely personal note too. Brilliant service

About Sarah Day

Wear and Resist was born in early 2017 out of an urge to channel my frustration and growing rage at the political climate into a creative pursuit that would raise money for women's charities. I believe jewellery is about more than just looking pretty. What we wear can empower us and open up conversations. Statement jewellery that actually has something to say!

Solar powered! 🌞

Wear and Resist is running on solar power as we are in the process of making our home and workshop self-sustaining.

a very small independent brand

Designed and made with love

Everything is made and sent from my Oxfordshire studio. We are an extremely small team – I'm the only full-time member 😄 – so you are truly supporting a small business when you shop here. We aim to get all orders out within 2-3 days but some may need to be made to order and might take a little longer. Sarah xx
