Delivering a diverse
and gender equal parliament

“You must make women count as much as men; you must have an equal standard of morals; and the only way to enforce that is through giving women political power so that you can get that equal moral standard registered in the laws of the country. It is the only way.”

Emmeline Pankhurst

Inspired by the suffragettes and suffragists, Centenary Action was established by Professor Helen Pankhurst CBE, granddaughter of Sylvia and great-granddaughter of Emmeline, in 2018 to mark the centenary of some women getting the right to vote and to take action over the following 10 years to deliver a gender equal parliament by 2028.

Driven by this mission, and the historic responsibility, they are a leading voice for women’s political representation, having created a coalition of over 100 activists, politicians and academics. They are a cross-party campaigning force supporting women, bringing local, national and international organisations together to amplify voices and campaign for change.

The Women Count collection is a collaboration with Centenary Action and Wear and Resist to celebrate Centenary Action's Mission 2028. Fifty percent of the purchase price of the Women Count MP brooch, and 20% from everything else in the Women Count collection will go to support Centenary Action’s continuing campaign to improve women’s political participation in the UK.
