Everyone talks about Flight or Fight, but it took me until a few years ago to realise there is also Freeze, and that it's my go-to state when things feel dangerous. For weeks I've wanted to say something, to use my voice to at least try to speak out, but the words were locked up. I think I felt by somehow writing them all down I would admitting this shitshow is real.
But it is. This is not a dress rehearsal. We are watching the complete downfall of the United States of America. The checks and balances that every American learns about in school that ensure a fair government are non existent – with the Judicial fully in Trump's pocket. The Democrats. and I know this will annoy people, but they should have acted earlier, could have done so much more when they were in power to try to avoid this situation that has been approaching in plain sight like a slow moving train. But they didn't. I can't decide if they are useless or complicit. Why was Biden grinning when he welcomed Trump to the Whitehouse? This man is a rapist, a felon who stole classified documents and most likely sold them.
They didn't even ask for a recount in any of the swing states, when the odds of the Republicans winning all seven swing states beyond a margin of error are astronomically small, impossible, most would say. Then there were the bomb threats at strategic voting stations and Trump himself talking openly about having the election sewn up ahead of time, 'we don't need votes.' We all saw him proudly proclaim on stage that Musk '... knows those computers better than anybody, all those computers, those vote counting computers... And we ended up winning Pennsylvania, like, in a landslide, so, that was pretty good, it was pretty good. So thank you to Elon."
There were also strange patterns in voting behaviour in the swing states as outlined by Election Truth Alliance who are struggling to get any recognition for their work Everyone has moved on. I still care, because it may mean that Trump is not as popular as everyone believes, just like his half-empty rallies showed in the lead up to the election.
If you want to go down another rabbit hole there is this Twitter thread that explains how the company that maintains and secures nearly all voting equipment in the US is partners with Musk and Peter Thiel, (think Elon Musk but even weirder and possibly more evil) a known backer of Trump.
Putin was losing in Ukraine, he had no other way to save himself. Elon was having conversations with Putin. (Why else would he buy Twitter for such an astronomical sum?) It's not hard to imagine a deal was done. And it would explain why Elon is now the acting president. His own kid just told Trump 'you are not president and you need to go away.'
But what now? We've all seen the headlines. Unthinkable statements about Gaza being prime real estate, abandoning Ukraine to Russia. Russian state TV said yesterday that Trump is doing Moscow's job, ripping apart the Western world. And the self harm that Elon's boy hackers are doing by supposedly 'auditing' the government, shutting down USAID and other long-standing institutions, slashing and burning government spending with no oversight whatsoever. Meanwhile they've just announced a new plan to add $4.5 trilion to the deficit.

And with his constant threats of sanctions, I believe they are doing more than headline grabbing. They are using the fate of America and it's longstanding relationships to manipulate and play the stock market. All of this will be in the end for for personal financial gain.
There isn't time to 'take it to the courts' which is all the Democrats seem to have up their sleeve. And if the ultimate court in the land is ready to do Trump's bidding it will amount to a pointless exercise.
All major news outlets have been banned from Press Briefings, and in the past few hours the attorney general has filed charges against New York Governor Kathy Hochul and state Attorney General Leticia James for allegedly failing to enforce federal immigration laws. This is Fascism. I truly believe the future of the country will come down to what side the military is on.
It's a coup. as Carole Cadwalladr writes in her latest substack. She has been covering the Russian money behind Brexit since 2016. The same money, the same people. Starmer is going to have to pick a side and I hope to God it's the right one. There has never been more reason to rejoin the EU.
My heart breaks for the good people in America who didn't vote for this, for Palestinians and those in Ukraine. And all while the planet burns. Why are climate actiivists in prison while we still refuse to tax the uber rich in this country? Why has Palantir, founded by Peter Thiel, been given access to our entire NHS data systems? This is late-stage Capitalism and we need a complete reset. If we continue to prioritise money over our fellow humans and inhabitants of this planet, if we look at governments as big business rather than carrying out a responsibility to look after their citizens we are ... quite frankly ... fucked.
