Wear and Resist was born out of a love of words, and launched in the rapidly changing political landscape of early 2017. All of a sudden it felt important that my jewellery didn't only look pretty but said something. Resist came first, followed by Nasty and Persist and the rest is history!

  • 'Resist' What's in a word?

    ... 'But there is something refreshing in the simplicity of the verb ‘to resist’ – a ‘doing word’ that signals a peaceful action. I associate it with the Civil Rights movement – of refusing to get up out of a seat on a bus, or a stool at a counter. And perhaps because it speaks of reaction rather than action, I also associate with the historic struggles of women. Even in the direst of situations, we can always resist. It is the last bastion of action and it is where hope dwells.

    I wrote about the history of this phrase and how Mitch McConnell used it in an attempt to demonish Senator Elizabeth Warren, and about the value of persistence and keeping going which was so beautifully described by Seamus Heaney:
